If your blog post's featured images are fairly low resolution, you may want to delete the top image canvas. Your blog will still look gorgeous, but the top banner section looks best when you upload an image that's 2500px on the long side. You can also use our fave TinyJpeg to make them small so your blog posts still load quickly!

How to Choose a Getting Ready Location

June 25, 2020

Brides, have you given any thought on how to choose a getting ready location on your wedding day? Did you know the spot you choose to get ready in can drastically affect those photos?! If you have a room with lots of windows and lots of natural light flowing in, you will get that nice, bright, and glowy look everyone dreams of! Or if you’re in a room with very little natural light, you will get photos that are darker with less depth. And this might not be the look you’re wanting.

So take it from the girl who has photographed a lot of weddings! Here are a few of my best tips for choosing an ideal space for your getting ready photos:

1. Take some extra time when it comes to thinking about where you will get ready, it could mean all the difference!

2. Check out these spaces at the same time of day that you will be getting ready in them. Look for rooms with lots of windows, tons of natural light, and lightly colored walls! Not only will this help your photos, but it will also help your hair and make-up team!

3. Look at ALL of your options. This could mean borrowing your parents or a friend’s house that morning. It could mean getting glammed up in a hotel room with big windows or even finding a super cute Air Bnb. The positives about a hotel room or even an Air Bnb is that you could have all your girls stay the night with you before and then everyone is already there the next morning!

4. Talk to your venue! A lot of venues now offer spaces to get ready in that have been decorated and are specifically for getting ready with your best girls.

There are seriously so many options when it comes to getting ready on the morning of your wedding. I hope after reading this you feel so much more confident when it comes to deciding this detail of your day. I highly recommend choosing a location where there is more than one window and tons of natural light. I promise you won’t regret it!

Much love,

Lauren
