NOTE —

If your blog post's featured images are fairly low resolution, you may want to delete the top image canvas. Your blog will still look gorgeous, but the top banner section looks best when you upload an image that's 2500px on the long side. You can also use our fave TinyJpeg to make them small so your blog posts still load quickly!

4 Tips to Include Your Dog in Your Engagement Photos

May 26, 2020

I totally get it, your dog is basically your baby. Mine is too! You let them sleep in your bed and your camera roll is full of photos of them. So naturally you want to them to be a part of your engagement session, right?? After all, they are family! Today I am sharing my top four tips to include your dog in your engagement photos!

1. Bring an extra set of hands! It is best to limit the time we shoot with a dog because they can get antsy and lose interest pretty quickly. I recommend 10-15 minutes with your pup! This is plenty of time to make sure we get all the cute shots with them. Whether we include your pup at the beginning or the end, it is super helpful to have someone there to watch them during the time we are focusing on you and your fiancé!

2. Bring treats or a favorite toy! This can be especially helpful when trying to get a photo of your dog looking at the camera. These are great to incentivize good behavior or even give them a little reward during the session!

3. Choose a location that is pet friendly! Not every space allows pets so when we work together to choose your ideal location for photos we will definitely keep that in mind.

4. Most importantly – Stay calm and have fun! If your dog is full of energy, try to stay calm and not stress about it. It might be a new area for the dog which means all kinds of new smells! All you have to do is smile and cuddle your pup! I’ve done this so many times and I can promise you that we will get great photos of your dog looking at the camera!

I am a dog mom myself so I totally understand the concerns that come along with bringing your dog to your engagement session, but I promise you that it is always worth it! Did you find these tips helpful? Would you bring your pup to your engagement session?? Tell me below!

Much love,
Lauren
