So you have littles, but you also want family photos. Listen, I get it. You are worried about if they will be happy, if they will cooperate, how long they will last, is a 15 minute mini session really enough time to get good photos of my family, and if it’s worth spending the money. Family sessions like these are the perfect kind for families for all these reasons!
1. Embrace this season. These photos will likely be more documentary style. That means less looking and smiling at the camera and more real life. Whether you choose to go to a park or invite someone into your home, let it be natural. These photos below were taken at 20th Street Studios! This season of life isn’t for looking perfect. It’s for fun genuine moments that can be documented and saved for you!
2. Play with your kids! This one is big! When your kids see you playing with them and letting loose, it allows them to do the same. Chase them. Tickle them. Snuggle them. Kiss them. Do all the things you would normally do with them. I promise it works every time! Plus, the more they loosen up, the more likely we get one image with everyone smiling at the camera with genuine smiles!
3. Know that the imperfections are okay. If every photo isn’t perfectly in focus or people aren’t looking at the camera. It’s okay! You will love these no matter what because they are of the people you love most, but those imperfections will help you remember the best parts about this session. The way your little one giggles at something, the silly faces they make, or even the way your little one might not have been pumped about this session. This is about capturing them how they are, not struggling through the entire session trying to get everyone to cooperate and smile. I promise you, if you play with them those smiles will come naturally!
4. Trust me and the process. I’m here to guide you and direct you as needed to make sure we capture those moments I’ve been talking about. Let go of any worries or stresses you’re feeling, relax and have fun with your family! I will take care of the rest!
Whether you do these at home or at a park, these tips will help you love your family photos! I promise you will genuine smiles, laughs, and be able to feel the joy from these photos if you follow these tips. I hope they help you make the most out of your family session!
Much love,
Lauren
